The piano

A short story for you guys while I write the rest of my other story. Enjoy

The Piano

Her fingers glazed the piano as if silk was being dragged across the keys. The melody seemed to intertwine perfectly with her soul. The piano sound she once loved seemed to be fading from her. She stopped playing and turned to find a dark haired stranger standing before her. His sharp emerald eyes seemed to glisten in the dull light. “Can I help you?” She asked looking at the stranger. “Oh I am sorry, I heard you playing from the hall and wanted to listen some more.” He said. “What did you think?” she asked hoping for a good answer. “Horrible” he said straightforwardly. “And who do you think you are to critique my work?” She asked angered by his rude comment. “ I apologize again, my name is Zane, and it is very nice to meet you Mrs. Avery.” Zane said staring down at Avery. “How do you know my name?” Avery asked as she walked back slowly. “You know Mrs. Avery, they say that in exchange for the ability so play a beautiful melody, the piano will steal your soul,” Zane said taking a seat at the piano and playing a very ominous sound. Avery shuttered at the sound but was shocked by what she saw. The floors disappeared from under her feet. With a loud shriek Avery began to fall, she screamed as she fell, “Goodness you’re loud.” Zane said rubbing his ears. “What did you do to me?” Avery screamed at Zane. She saw the floor coming closer she braced herself for impact. Avery hit the floor but to her surprise the floor wasn’t hard. “You know you’re very cute when you’re scared.” Said Zane walking towards the spot where Avery landed. She glared at Zane, She stood up and slapped him. Zane adjusted his glasses, "you're not very cute when you're mad though." He turned and walked down through the trees. Avery turned and looked around, roses covered every inch of every bush. Red roses, White roses, Yellow roses, and one single Pink rose. Avery walked towards the single pink rose. When suddenly she heard a noise. A tiny mouse stopped at Avery’s feet “excuse me Mrs. But by chance do you have a watch?” the little mouse asked. Avery jumped back. “Please don’t be frightened,” the tiny mouse said. Avery looked down at the tiny mouse and the mouse looked so sad. Avery dug through her pockets and found her old watch. She handed the watch to the tiny mouse and watched the mouse light up when it saw the watch. "How can you be so happy over just one thing like that." The mouse looked up and smiled at her. Avery felt an incredible lightness in her chest. She walked further down the path and remembered more as she went. She remembered how happy she was when she played the piano. She stopped in front of a long beautiful piano. She stared at the piano and she realized she had been there before. It was the first place she ever played. Avery sat down at the piano and played as if all life was would end at that very moment. Zane walked through the rose bush. “Beautiful.” He said listening to the sound of the little girl who truly loved piano. “Thank you.” Avery said rubbing the tears from her eyes and watched Zane float away. “Where are you going?" Avery said choking down her tears. Zane said smiling. "Don't worry we'll meet again." he said as she watched him drift away. Months passed and Avery realized it was merely a dream. She sat in the music room playing the music she loved. When a familiar voice rang through the room. "Beautiful" the voice echoed. Avery jumped back to see a dark haired stranger smiling at her. "Zane?" she asked shocked by what she saw. "I guess you already know my name." Avery smiled and realized Zane really was the melody to her harmony.

Secret part 2

The storybook lit up as if by saying the name it came to life. Emily opened the book slowly, a gust of wind swooshed by pushing her into the storybook. Emily fell towards the ground. With a loud thump she hit the ground. Grunting in pain, She looked up to see a boy laying in the shade of a tree. “This isn’t real this isn’t real” she said to herself and stared at the boy lying under the tree. “Oh my god he’s dead!” She squeaked. “No I’m not dead,” he said sitting up and smiling at her. “I’m Zane. Dead ... Zane… they sound nothing alike.” He said as he uncrossed his legs. “I’m sorry, but where am I?” Emily asked as her heart beat rapidly in her chest. Zane looked up at her and sighed. “I was hoping you could tell me.” He said as he took a breath. “But I don’t know why you’d know after all you just got here.” He said stretching. “How long have you been here?” Emily asked looking at the boy. “Well…” he said in a mumble. “Sorry I couldn’t hear you.” She said waiting for his answer. He coughed and said “Five minutes…” he said and Emily slammed her head against her hands. “That doesn’t help at all!” she said and Zane stood up dusting the dirt off his pants. He walked over to Emily and put out his hand as to offer her help up. She gladly took it and rose to her feet. “ And your name?” boy said. Emily gazed at Zane’s dark long messy hair. His emerald eyes locked onto her copper eyes. “Emily” she said dusting herself off. “Well Emily, shall we take a walk?” Zane asked already walking off through the bushes. “Were are we going?” Emily asked as she rushed to keep up with Zane. “Beats me” he replied and held a tree branch up for Emily. “But as soon as we find other people we’ll have to get you out of that uniform and into something comfy.” He said with a kind smile on his face. Emily smiled back as she walked under the branch. She took about two steps and snagged her foot on a root. The bushes raddled and shook. Emily jumped to her feet. The bushes had eyes, they stared at them… Watching their every move.

Secret.

Today i'll be starting my story Secret, enjoy!

Her fingers gently tapped the piano keys, as the heart racing melody filled the room. “Very good Mrs. Grace.” The piano teacher said from across the room. Emily stood up and walked back to her desk in the back of the room. “Next we have Mr. Anderson” The class applauded as the popular, Ren walked up to the front of the room and took his seat on the piano bench. His fingers tapped the keys. Slowly a horrid melody filled the room, it seemed as if he had never played the piano before. He stopped playing looked over and winked at the girls who seemed to be drooling all over him. The School bell rang dismissing them for their first day of summer break. Emily slowly walked out of the building stopping at her shoe locker; she slowly changed back into her regular shoes. Sandra ran up to Emily and sat down next to her, “ Emi you’re song was amazing! Ren’s was really good too.” She squeaked. “Did you even hear a note he played” Emily said sighing. “Nope” Sandra said proudly, “I thought so” Emily said pointing to the drool on the side of Sandra’s cheek. Emily stood up and put her school shoes back in her locker. Sandra spotted Ren walking towards his locker. “He’s so totally hot.” She squealed and Emily walked towards the doors. Emily walked outside and watched the leaves fall off the trees. She sighed and walked down the stairs towards the pebble path that led her home. Slowly she walked down the pebble road towards a small pond near her home. The water seemed calm as she walked along the edge of the pond. Emily sat at the edge of the pond and stared in the water. She leaned down and looked directly into the pond but she didn’t see her reflection, she saw just a shallow pond. Emily stood up and wiped the grass off her skirt and walked down the path once more. “Emily…” Emily turned to see who called her but no one was there. She kept walking down the pebble path. For some reason the path seemed longer than usual. Emily stopped and looked around her. “Why is it so quiet?” she whispered to herself. She walked down the path slightly faster. Emily’s brisk walked caused her so fall over a storybook lying in the road. Emily looked down at the book that so kindly caused her to fall. “Secret” She read aloud as she looked at the title of the storybook.
